Central Station Manager - System/LAN Administrator

The Central Station for Wolverine Security monitored the security and fire detection systems of over 10,000 customers in Michigan.

Responsibilities and Accomplishments:

  • Responsible for managing Central Station which included supervision of
    12 employees on 3 shifts. 
  • Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of Central Station staff. 
  • Computers were used heavily in this department and include Data General Ademco CAPS, IBM Novell Networked system for dBase III Plus, Lotus 1 2 3, Word Perfect, and BCC accounting software.

After assuming this position, I analyzed the needs of Central Station Department, and designed and implemented procedures to streamline operations and prepared manuals that outlined new and existing procedures and policies.

  • Within a few months of joining Wolverine Security, I was asked to assist in the reorganization of other departments.  My involvement in this area included the
    • Service Department,
    • Installation Department,
    • Sales Department,
    • Transfer & Disconnect Department and
    • General Office. 
  • After consulting with department managers to determine their needs, I submitted suggestions to improve the efficiency of the department.  After receiving approval, I developed and documented procedures to streamline operations. 
  • In order to accomplish our goals, I developed menu driven programs utilizing dBase III Plus to automate asset inventory; scheduling of installations and service orders; scheduling and tracking transfers and disconnects; track and analyze police/fire department dispatches, and scheduling and tracking of sales/new
    installations.
